Former President Joe Biden has reportedly offered to return to the political stage to help Democrats boost fundraising and party credibility—but his offer was met with hesitation and rejection by party leaders, according to a report by NBC News.
Biden, 82, recently held a private meeting with new Democratic National Committee Chairman Ken Martin, in which he expressed his willingness to support the party amid waning public enthusiasm. Sources say Biden hoped to campaign for candidates and assist in raising funds as Democrats regroup after a disappointing 2024 election cycle.

Despite his offer, party leaders reportedly declined. Many within the Democratic ranks remain concerned that Biden’s association with the party’s recent defeat could do more harm than good. “Who’s going to want Joe Biden back in the game?” one Biden supporter told NBC News, reflecting a widespread sentiment that the former president may no longer represent the party’s future direction.
Compounding the issue is internal frustration among some Democrats who believe Biden waited too long to step aside and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor in the presidential race. That delay, critics argue, weakened the party’s cohesion and momentum at a critical time.

While Biden may be stepping back from center stage, reports suggest that former First Lady Jill Biden is preparing for a return to political life. A source close to her told NBC that she is eager to support the party’s efforts. “She recognizes that serving in the capacities that she served is an honor and it comes with responsibilities to the party. And she’s prepared to help in any way she can,” the insider said.
Although Biden’s political future within the Democratic Party remains uncertain, his name continues to come up—especially among Republicans. Former President Donald Trump, now back in office, was asked about Biden possibly re-entering the political sphere. “I hope so,” Trump said on Friday, March 21, with a smirk.

According to The Daily Beast, Trump has referenced Biden nearly 400 times since returning to the presidency, continuing to use him as a frequent target in speeches and social media posts. At a recent press conference, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt remarked, “We are still very much fixing so many of the problems created or started by the Biden administration.”
Whether Biden returns in a significant role or remains behind the scenes, his legacy continues to cast a long shadow over Democratic strategy in 2024 and beyond.
