Jay Bratt’s Resignation Sparks Fierce Backlash from Trump Allies

A Department of Justice attorney has resigned from his position, but his departure has not shielded him from becoming a target of retribution, particularly from allies of former President Donald Trump. Jay Bratt, the counterintelligence chief within the Justice Department’s National Security Division, has reportedly stepped down, but his resignation has not stopped critics from aiming their fire at him.

Mike Davis, a former GOP staffer known for his outspoken social media comments and rumored to be on Trump’s list for attorney general, wasted no time in calling out Bratt. Flagging a report from SpyTalk, which confirmed Bratt’s resignation, Davis took to Twitter to unleash a scathing message: “You can run, Jay Bratt. But you can’t hide. You’re the biggest snake of them all. You orchestrated the illegal Mar-a-Lago raid.”

Davis continued his attack by accusing Bratt of trying to “cover up Crossfire Hurricane—the biggest scandal in American history” and warned, “Justice is coming. Nobody is above the law. Lawyer up, buttercup.”

Julie Kelly, a self-proclaimed “J6 conspiracy theorist,” also chimed in, criticizing Bratt and his actions. “Rats are trying to flee the sinking ship,” Kelly wrote, referring to Bratt’s resignation. She also pointed out that Bratt’s resignation came just a day after Trump announced that Stanley Woodward, a lawyer whom Bratt had allegedly threatened in relation to the classified documents case, would become a top legal advisor in the Trump White House.

Kelly’s comments took a sharper turn in a follow-up post, accusing Bratt of colluding with the Biden White House: “Jay Bratt was in cahoots with the Biden White House,” she claimed. “Trump welcomed Bratt to Mar-a-Lago in June 2022—along with 3 FBI agents—to look for more ‘classified documents.’ Despite that cooperation, Bratt pushed for an armed raid of Mar-a-Lago, which happened on August 8, 2022,” she added.

The resignation of Bratt has sparked intense reactions from Trump’s allies, who are determined to hold him accountable for his involvement in the investigation into the Mar-a-Lago raid. Despite stepping down from his post, it’s clear that Bratt’s troubles are far from over as he continues to face scrutiny and public criticism.
