Elon Musk has joined conservative voices, including Donald Trump allies, in criticizing prominent law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP for its involvement in legal action against right-wing commentator and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza.
The controversy began over the weekend when D’Souza, a Trump-pardoned political provocateur and producer of the widely discredited election conspiracy film 2000 Mules, accused Skadden of targeting him through “systematic lawfare.”

“Skadden Arps is the firm engaged in systematic lawfare against 2000 Mules. They have an army of 17 attorneys working pro-bono against me. I have 2 lawyers,” D’Souza posted on social media. “The Left’s game is to ruin us through protracted, costly litigation.”
D’Souza tagged former President Trump in his post, but it was tech billionaire Elon Musk who amplified the complaint by publicly rebuking the law firm. “Skadden, this needs to stop now,” Musk wrote in response. Though not confirmed, some online reports suggest that Musk has been previously represented by Skadden, raising eyebrows about his decision to call out the firm.
The incident caught the attention of legal analysts and conservative influencers alike. Anna Bower, a legal commentator, noted, “Elon Musk takes aim at Skadden Arps over the firm’s pro bono work in litigation against 2000 Mules producer Dinesh D’Souza.”

Adding fuel to the fire, prominent MAGA social media figure AwakenedOutlaw suggested a coordinated online effort to scrutinize the firm’s attorneys and operations. “It’s probably time for an army of people online to dig into EVERYTHING and EVERYONE at Skadden, Arps,” the influencer wrote. “There are millions of us. Let’s consider turning the tables on ’em.”
Skadden, known as one of the most powerful law firms in the country, has not issued a public response to the allegations or Musk’s remarks. The firm has a long history of high-profile legal representation, including work in corporate litigation, white-collar defense, and constitutional matters.

This latest development follows a pattern from Trump and his allies of targeting legal institutions they perceive as hostile. Other firms, such as Perkins Coie LLP and Paul Weiss, have also been named by conservatives for representing individuals or causes opposed to Trump’s political agenda.
As legal battles tied to past elections and political controversies continue, law firms representing opposing interests are finding themselves increasingly under public and political fire.
