Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter Ella Emhoff Debunks Rumors of ‘Mental Breakdown’ Following Trump’s Election Win
Ella Emhoff, stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris, recently took to Instagram to address rumors suggesting she had a “mental breakdown” following Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential victory. Emhoff, 25, publicly dismissed the speculation, affirming that she was not hospitalized, contrary to circulating reports.
“OK, I’m just gonna go out and say it,” Emhoff began. “There’s a rumor about me having a mental breakdown and getting checked into a hospital. Not true.” She added, “Also **** you if you’re out there spreading that. There’s nothing wrong with showing emotion and crying. Anyone who says there is probably needs a good cry.”
Emhoff, who has been open about her mental health journey, expressed a refusal to feel ashamed of her emotions. Her mother, Kerstin Emhoff, defended her daughter, calling the rumors “MAGA bs” in an online post. Fiercely protective, Kerstin urged the public to “Leave my kids alone!” She continued, “Ella is doing great and spending a lovely day with her mom!”
She further added, “Having the ability to show your emotions is something we should all hope for. It’s okay to not feel great right now. We aren’t letting anyone break our family down,” reported Express US. Ella’s response came after images surfaced of her appearing emotional during Harris’ concession speech at Howard University. Following the event, Ella shared her feelings with her Instagram followers, acknowledging the pain of the loss while encouraging resilience and optimism.
“Truly no words. We are all gonna get through this. It just ******* hurts like a b**** right now and that’s OK,” she wrote. She reminded her followers, “The fight doesn’t stop now,” urging them to support each other and focus on positive change within their communities. In facing this scrutiny, Ella Emhoff has remained candid, reinforcing her commitment to mental health awareness and challenging societal stigma around emotional expression. Her message serves as a reminder of the importance of authenticity and emotional resilience in the public eye.
