A recent poll conducted by The Associated Press and NORC reveals that most American adults believe President Joe Biden’s business dealings with his son, Hunter Biden, were either unethical or illegal. The results, published on Saturday, indicate that 63% of U.S. adults hold this view, with 33% describing Biden’s actions as unethical and 30% considering them illegal. Only 30% of respondents believe that Biden did “nothing wrong.”

The poll also highlights a significant partisan divide in how Americans perceive Biden’s actions. According to the AP-NORC poll, Republicans are much more likely to view President Biden’s business relationship with Hunter as illegal, with 65% expressing this belief. In contrast, only 8% of Democrats shared this opinion. Moreover, the poll found that 32% of Democrats, compared to 31% of Republicans, believe Biden acted unethically but not illegally.

Meanwhile, 58% of Democrats stated that Biden has “not done anything wrong,” compared to just 3% of Republicans who agreed. The poll also sheds light on public opinion regarding the ongoing impeachment inquiry into President Biden’s dealings. Despite the first hearing being held in late January, no concrete evidence has yet been presented that directly ties Biden to financial gains from Hunter Biden’s business dealings or shows that policy decisions were influenced by these dealings.

When asked about their stance on the impeachment inquiry, 65% of respondents said they either disapproved or were neutral, with only 33% expressing support for the probe. Partisan differences were again evident—67% of Republicans supported the inquiry, while just 7% of Democrats did. Interestingly, similar percentages of Republicans (19%) and Democrats (21%) were neutral on the issue.

However, 44% of respondents admitted they hadn’t read or heard much about the inquiry, suggesting that many Americans are still not highly informed about the proceedings. As reported by The Hill, the impeachment inquiry faces significant challenges in the Democratic-controlled Senate, with outlets like CNN noting that the effort lacks strong evidence and has garnered tepid public support so far.

As impeachment proceedings continue, President Biden maintains that his dealings were above board, according to NBC News. However, the poll shows that Republicans overwhelmingly view his actions as unethical or illegal, while Democrats largely see the inquiry as a partisan attack without justification. As more information emerges, the poll underscores the deep divide among American voters on the issue of Biden’s impeachment.
