Alina Habba Defends Trump, Criticizes Garland Amid Reports of Biden’s Regret Over AG Pick

Alina Habba, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for counselor to the president, expressed disbelief on Monday regarding President Joe Biden’s reported regret over choosing Merrick Garland as attorney general.

Biden is reportedly dissatisfied with Garland’s handling of key investigations, particularly his failure to act swiftly in prosecuting Trump for his involvement in the January 6 insurrection and his more cautious approach toward prosecuting Hunter Biden.

In an interview with The Independent, Habba responded to Biden’s complaints during her appearance on Fox News. “He wasn’t tough enough?” she asked. “Was it not tough enough when we spent 3 1/2 years with indictments, shams, and hoaxes with cases?” Habba seemed incredulous about the criticism, pointing to the prolonged legal battles Trump faced.

Referring to her boss, Habba added, “He had it rough. He had it so rough, but he came out on top because America saw what they did.” Habba’s comments seemed to downplay any missteps or controversies surrounding Trump’s legal issues, instead focusing on her view that the public saw through the allegations.

Habba also voiced strong criticism of Garland’s role in the investigations against Trump, asserting that he “should be ashamed of himself” for pursuing the case against the former president. “It wasn’t just about President Trump. It was about our Constitution. It was about the foundation of this country.

And they wanted to turn us into a third-world country. And they failed,” Habba declared. At 40 years old, Habba has represented Trump in several high-profile legal cases, including his civil fraud trial in New York and the defamation case involving journalist E. Jean Carroll. Her fiery defense of Trump on Fox News underscores her loyalty to him, as she prepares to take on a larger role in his administration.
