Democratic U.S. Senator Adam Schiff of California has accused former President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk of targeting Social Security, claiming they are already working to undermine the program. In a video released on Saturday, Schiff issued a stark warning to Americans, alleging that Trump and Musk are planning to cut into Social Security benefits.
“If you thought Donald Trump and Elon Musk weren’t going to go after your Social Security – you thought wrong,” Schiff said. “They already are,” he added. Schiff, a longtime critic of Trump, did not specify the exact policies or actions he believes indicate an immediate threat to Social Security.

However, he insisted that evidence points to both Trump and Musk working against the financial security of American workers. In the video, Schiff argues that Trump and Musk are “coming after” American paychecks, though he did not provide specific legislative or policy moves backing his claims.
His warning appears to be part of a broader Democratic effort to highlight concerns over potential Republican-led entitlement cuts. Trump, who is seeking another term in office, has faced scrutiny over past statements about entitlement programs. While he has publicly claimed he would protect Social Security, some critics fear that his policies could ultimately lead to cuts.

Meanwhile, Musk has not been directly involved in Social Security policy but has frequently voiced strong opinions on government spending and taxation. Schiff’s remarks come at a time when Social Security remains a critical issue for millions of Americans, particularly retirees and low-income workers who rely on the benefits for financial stability.

Democrats have often pointed to Republican proposals to reform entitlement programs as evidence of a broader agenda to scale back government assistance. Schiff’s video is likely to intensify the debate over Social Security heading into the next election cycle, as Democrats continue to position themselves as defenders of the program against potential conservative-led reforms.
Neither Trump nor Musk has responded directly to Schiff’s claims. However, the senator’s comments are expected to fuel further discussions about the future of Social Security and how the government plans to sustain it in the years ahead.
