Following the eagerly awaited unveiling of the 2024 Tacoma, Toyota has collaborated with DC’s newest superhero, “Blue Beetle,” in his debut cinematic experience that hit theaters recently. The film is a dynamic blend of thrilling action, emotion, and comedy, wherein Jaime Reyes undergoes a life-altering transformation into The Blue Beetle, thanks to the ancient alien artifact, the Scarab.

Throughout the movie, Jaime and his family lean on their cherished 3rd generation Toyota Tacoma. This “Taco” is the cherished possession of Jaime’s Uncle Rudy, portrayed by George Lopez. As the story unfolds, audiences can witness how Blue Beetle, accompanied by his family and their reliable Tacoma, tackles challenges head-on. Additionally, a surprise appearance by the upcoming 4th generation Tacoma awaits viewers.

In creating a distinctive design and exclusive paint for the 2024 Tacoma showcased in the film, Toyota partnered closely with DC.

“Our adept CALTY Studio team, spearheaded by Scott Roller, was entrusted with the task of crafting a Tacoma that echoed the distinct character of Uncle Rudy’s treasured ‘Taco’ while infusing contemporary elements from the 2024 Tacoma model,” remarked Tacoma’s Chief Engineer, Sheldon Brown. “The outcome was the ‘Blue Taco’ design, and it was an exhilarating journey to bring it to life.”

Toyota trucks aren’t strangers to the silver screen. The 1985 Toyota SR5 Xtra Cab was Marty McFly’s dream ride in the iconic “Back to the Future.” The first-generation Tundra also gained recognition in “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines,” with 600 T3 Special Edition Tundras making their way to customers the same year.

The 2024 Tacoma stands out as the newest embodiment of this legendary 4×4, boasting an optional i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain that delivers up to 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft. of torque. With tough aesthetic, diverse powertrain choices, 4×4 prowess, and state-of-the-art safety and tech specifications, it’s bound to impress. 2024 also introduces the Trailhunter grade, designed to be the pinnacle of overlanding vehicles. Prospective buyers can expect the all-new 2024 Tacoma at dealerships by year’s end.
