On Thursday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) voiced her support for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision to have the United States leave the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, allowing Putin to win.
Greene criticized the Biden administration for continuing to give Ukraine the weapons it claims it needs to resist the Russian military invasion that started in February in a post on Twitter.
“The American people do not want war with Russia, but NATO and our own foolish leaders are dragging us into one,” Greene wrote. “A war that no one will win. Escalation over Ukraine, a non-member nation, risking nuclear war is a power-play endangering the entire world. We should pull out of NATO.”

Despite the fact that many of its members are sending Ukraine weapons to use in its conflict with Russia, both the Biden administration and NATO have decided against engaging militarily.
Additionally, this week has seen a significant strengthening of the NATO alliance as the organization announced it will welcome both Sweden and Finland, two important Baltic Sea nations who have long resisted joining out of concern that doing so may antagonize the Kremlin, according to the Raw Story.
“We’re proving that NATO is more needed now than it has ever been,” President Joe Biden said while speaking at the NATO summit in Madrid on Wednesday.
Additionally, American military hardware will be sent to Europe to strengthen its defenses.
Two additional F-35 fighter squadrons will be sent to the United Kingdom, two additional U.S. Navy warships will be sent to Spain, and new air defenses will be deployed to Germany and Italy.
According to a Wall Street Journal story, Sergei Ryabkov, the deputy foreign minister for Russia, stated that Moscow would respond with “compensatory measures.”
“I think those who propose such decisions are under the illusion that they will be able to intimidate Russia and somehow restrain it. They won’t succeed,” he said.
During a conference in Germany on Sunday, G7 leaders, including the Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau and the president of the European Union Ursula von der Leyen, made fun of the Russian president over a well-known topless photo.
When asked about the jokes, Putin told reporters on Thursday: “I don’t know how they wanted to get undressed, above or below the waist,” he said. “But I think it would be a disgusting sight in any case.”
