Kentucky Woman Accused of Killing and Dismembering Mother Claims Brother is the True Mastermind
The sister of a Kentucky woman accused of murdering, dismembering, and cooking their mother is now claiming that their older brother is the real mastermind behind the crime. Torilena Fields, 32, is facing a slew of charges, including murder, tampering with evidence, torturing a dog to death, and corpse abuse, according to an indictment from Robertson County obtained by Law & Crime.
When police arrived at the home to execute a search warrant, Fields was reportedly covered in blood. Inside the home, officers discovered the dismembered body of her mother, Trudy Fields, near a blood-stained mattress, according to local station WLWT. A witness told authorities that Fields had been “casting spells” and acting confrontational. Police also found drag marks outside the house, leading to the front door.
In a surprising twist, Fields’ sister, Telby Fields, is now alleging that their older brother orchestrated the murder. “My mother was butchered by my sister under his advisement,” Telby wrote in an emergency protective order petition. “He has threatened my life, my mother’s, my sister’s, the whole family. He has called and made threats to kill me to claim his ‘birthright’ as the firstborn.”
The protective order was filed just days after the murder, according to police reports. Telby claims her brother manipulated their sister, who had sustained a brain injury from a motorcycle accident, to carry out the heinous act. “He is on his way as I write this to kill me and take everything he thinks is his,” Telby wrote, pleading for the court’s protection.
The grisly discovery of Trudy Fields’ body was made by a workman who had been called to the property. According to the Kentucky State Police, the man arrived at the house around noon on a Wednesday and noticed drag marks in the grass. Following the trail, he discovered a dismembered body behind the home. The arms, legs, and head had been removed from the victim. Inside the house, police found what appeared to be cooked human body parts in a pot in the oven, which was still warm, according to a police citation.
Fields, who had been living in California and working as an actress, reportedly suffered a brain injury in a motorcycle accident, as a family member told WDKY. “She was an actress and doing her thing out there… We were told a couple of months ago that she was in a bad motorcycle accident and sustained a brain injury,” the cousin explained. The family had been trying to get her help when Trudy stepped in to care for her daughter.
Telby Fields’ protective order petition suggests that their brother used Torilena’s brain injury to manipulate her into committing the murder. Telby even hinted at the possibility that their brother was involved in an unrelated murder in California.
A judge granted the protective order, prohibiting the brother from contacting his sister or coming within 500 feet of her, Trudy’s home, or her funeral. The Kentucky State Police have not named the brother, and it remains unclear whether his sister’s accusations will be included in the ongoing investigation.
“This is still an open investigation, but we are looking into all information that is being gathered,” a spokesperson for the Kentucky State Police told Law & Crime.
