Start Your Engines: Honda Returns to SEMA with Debut of 2022 Civic Si Sports Cars Along With Rugged Overlanding Trucks

Honda will demonstrate its diverse paths to fun and performance at the 2021 SEMA Show in Las Vegas from Nov. 2-5, featuring seven vehicles, including the debut of two new Civic Si racing cars and a pair of rugged Honda light trucks. Made especially for extreme overlanding adventures.

Honda will be located at booth # 25077, in the southeast corner of the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Building on the impressive performance of the new 2022 Civic Si, Honda Performance Development (HPD) will present a prototype of its next-generation turnkey Civic Si race car. Designed for touring car racing, it will be on display alongside Team Honda Research West’s (THR-W) new Civic Si racing car, which will compete in the 25 Hours of Thunderhill endurance race from December 3-5.

Fully equipped for Overlanding, the Passport TrailSport Rugged Roads Project 2.0 and Ridgeline HPD Trail Tour Project vehicles highlight the rugged capability and adventurous spirit of Honda light trucks. The Africa Twin Overland demonstrates the off-road capabilities of Honda’s powerful ADV motorcycle when equipped with the latest and greatest adventure gear.

HDP Civic Si Race Car Prototype

Honda Performance Development (HPD) will debut the prototype of a new turnkey sports version of the new 2022 Honda Civic Si, which features a turbocharged engine and a 6-speed manual transmission.

Created, developed, and tested in-house by HPD engineers, the HPD Racing Honda Civic Si builds on HPD’s extensive racing and production vehicle engineering experience, including the development and incredible success of the Racing Vehicle program. 10th Gen HPD Civic Si TCA.

Manufactured from a blank bodywork for SRO’s TC America series, amateur touring car series, club racing, and track day use only, the race car dispenses with the sunroof, sound insulation, coating lower body, and joint sealant to reduce weight and facilitate roll cage installation. The car is then specifically modified for racing using a selection of HPD components and other performance and safety elements.

Founded in 1993, HPD is Honda’s official motorsports company in North America and the technical operations center for Honda’s high-performance racing programs, with products that support multiple levels of motorsports, from karting to racing. IndyCar, IMSA, and SCORE off-road racing.
