Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors dropped 33 points on Thursday against the Cleveland Cavaliers. This marks his ninth consecutive 30-point game, which matches a 55-year-old Warriors franchise record.
Per the Warriors PR department, Curry has matched Rick Barry’s old scoring record achieved back in the 1966-67 season.
Curry led all scorers for the Warriors in their 119-101 victory over the Cavaliers. It wasn’t the best shooting night for him from deep as he shot 4-of-13. However, he was also 12-of-25 from the field and 5-of-5 from the free-throw line.
Curry’s 30-point streak started in a 116-102 victory for the Warriors over the Chicago Bulls. This was his first game back after a five-game absence from a tail bone injury. The two-time MVP put on a strong performance to ensure everyone that he’s good and healthy.
In this nine-game streak, Curry scored over at least 40 twice — against the Milwaukee Bucks and the Oklahoma City Thunder which both resulted in wins for the Warriors.
His best performance came by the way of a 53-point outburst in their 116-107 victory over the Denver Nuggets. This was also the game where he surpassed the great Wilt Chamberlain to become the all-time scoring leader in Warriors history. Safe to say that Curry has been having one heck of a month.
