Protein was the first substance to be recognized as a vital part of living tissue. Accounting for 20% of our body weight, proteins perform a wide variety of functions throughout the body as a vital component of body tissues, enzymes and immune cells.

Types of Proteins

The proteins we consume are of two types, one is animal protein and the other is plant protein. Animal protein is obtained from animals and plants protein comes from plants. Animal protein contains high quality of proteins as compared to plant proteins although both types are important part of our diet. For men’s consuming high quality protein is the fastest way of building muscles and getting the right kind of body shape you want. We can get proteins from many of the foods we take in our daily routine but there are some foods which have a very high content of protein. Some the foods that are the world’s best sources of proteins are listed below.

Albacore tuna is one of the best sources of proteins. One can of white albacore tuna packed in water provides 41 grams of high quality.

  • Eggs

Egg is one of the cheapest sources of protein. A single egg contains 6-7grms of protein. For a number of years, eggs had a bad reputation because of their high cholesterol content. But the cholesterol in eggs doesn’t increase the cholesterol levels of those who eat them regularly. But apart from that eggs are one well known sources of protein

  • Grass fed beef:

Everyone knows that beef is high in protein. But some cuts contain a lot more fat than others. For example, a six ounce serving of pot roast contains 32 grams of fat, whereas an equal serving of London broil has just 8 grams of fat. Always choose leaner cuts of beef. Also, grass-fed beef is leaner than the usual grain-fed beef.

  • Fish:

Fish as we all know is a high protein food. However in contrast to the flesh, it has low fat content. Among animal sources turkey is known to be rich in its protein content.

  • Almonds

Another rich source of protein is almonds. Most plant foods do not provide as much protein or high quality, as animal foods do. But when it comes to plant foods almonds are very good sources of proteins.One ounce of dry roasted, salted almonds contain six grams of proteins

  • Soy

Soy is probably the best source plant source of protein. And there are so many delicious ways to include soy in your diet.

  • Peanuts:

The peanut contains more plant protein than any other legume or nut. It may not match the amount of protein in a turkey leg, but at 8 grams per serving it provides an economical way for those on a shoestring budget to get their fill

  • Beans

Beans in addition to having high fiber content are also loaded with good quality proteins. Depending on the type of bean, protein amounts range from about 15 to 25 grams per cup. So you can choose the one you like and go on. All the above mentioned foods provide us with high quality proteins and should be consumed by especially men as it proteins contribute a lot in muscle building.
