Protein was the first substance to be recognized as a vital part of living tissue. Accounting for 20% of our body weight, proteins perform a wide variety of functions throughout the body as a vital component of body tissues, enzymes and immune cells.
Types of Proteins
The proteins we consume are of two types, one is animal protein and the other is plant protein. Animal protein is obtained from animals and plants protein comes from plants. Animal protein contains high quality of proteins as compared to plant proteins although both types are important part of our diet.
