A South Carolina mother is facing charges for the alleged brutal killing of her newborn son shortly after giving birth, authorities reported. An. T. Ngo, 31, is accused of using a “long, metal letter opener” to stab the infant, cutting the umbilical cord, and placing the remains in a plastic bag before hiding it in another room. The Easley Police Department described the scene as one of the most horrific they have encountered.
Police were called to the scene on a medical emergency response, where they discovered the infant deceased. Ngo was rushed to the hospital, and the baby was pronounced dead upon authorities’ arrival. Easley Police Chief Brandon Liner expressed shock at the nature of the crime, stating, “I’ve been doing this for two and a half decades, and I have never seen anything this gruesome. I’ve never seen anything this bad.”

Ngo has been charged with homicide by child abuse and is currently held in jail without bail. Her next court appearance is scheduled for May 15. Chief Liner emphasized the department’s commitment to seeking justice for the infant, saying, “We’ll make sure that this baby will receive justice. It didn’t have a chance at life. Not long. So it’s our job to make sure that this baby does receive that.”

The motive behind the killing remains unclear, and investigators have not released further details about the circumstances leading up to the incident. Chief Liner described the scene as “very apparent” that Ngo was responsible for the child’s death, adding, “They get on scene and realize very quickly this is something much more.”
