18-Year-Old Teen’s Body Found in Burned-Out Car as Heartbroken Mom Speaks Out
Two teenagers have been arrested following the tragic discovery of an 18-year-old woman’s burned body in a car. Malachi Pressley and Taylor Kinard, both 19, were detained on Friday after the remains of MyAngel Walker were found on the side of a road in Greenwood County, South Carolina.
Walker, a recent high school graduate from Laurens, had been reported missing on December 12 after she failed to show up for her job at NHC Healthcare, according to FOX Carolina.
According to local reports from WHNS, police revealed that Pressley, MyAngel’s “on and off” ex-boyfriend, shot her before Kinard assisted him in disposing of her remains. “She had knowledge of it and she helped,” Clinton Police Chief Michael Addison told the outlet about Kinard’s involvement.
Pressley now faces charges of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, while Kinard has been charged with accessory after the fact.
MyAngel’s heartbroken mother, Sade Woodruff, described her daughter’s relationship with Pressley as tumultuous in the weeks leading up to her disappearance. Speaking to WHNS, she urged women in similar situations to seek help. “Anybody that’s going through any type of domestic dispute, being abused, anything, getaway.
If you are able, get away.” In another emotional interview with WYFF, Sade reflected on her daughter’s loss: “We’re not hoping for justice, because we know we will get justice for MyAngel. She didn’t deserve that. You know, it was definitely different. And it shows you, you know, some of the things that take place out here in this world.”
MyAngel’s death has shaken her community, prompting heartfelt tributes. The Laurens District 55 College, where MyAngel graduated, expressed their grief in a Facebook post:
“This is a post we never wanted to make and we pray we never have to make again. MyAngel Walker was an important and wonderful part of the GEAR UP family. We are going to miss her laugh, her hugs, and her ability to always make whatever she was doing a good time.”
The school praised the community for coming together to support MyAngel’s family during this unimaginable tragedy, writing, “We are SO proud of you all for how you have supported each other and her family in the last few days.”
As Pressley and Kinard face legal proceedings, MyAngel’s family and friends continue to mourn the loss of a young life taken far too soon.
