A 13-year-old girl in England has been charged with the murder of a 43-year-old woman and arson with intent to endanger life, according to Northamptonshire Police. The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested on Monday, March 11, after the body of Marta Bednarczyk, a mother of three, was discovered in a house on Newcomen Road.
Police and fire services responded to the scene shortly after 3 a.m. following reports of a fire. Upon entering the property, officers found Bednarczyk’s body, and paramedics pronounced her dead at 3:29 a.m. A preliminary post-mortem examination at Leicester Royal Infirmary revealed that the cause of death was a sharp force injury.

The teen is scheduled to appear at Northampton Magistrates Court on March 12. Detective Chief Inspector Johnny Campbell, the senior investigating officer from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, stated, “This evening we have formally charged a 13-year-old Wellingborough girl with murder, and arson, and she will appear before Northampton Magistrates Court at 10 a.m. tomorrow.”
Campbell expressed gratitude to the police and staff working on the case, saying, “I want to take a moment to thank the many police officers and staff who are working and continue to work tirelessly on this investigation since the very tragic events of early yesterday morning.” He also extended his condolences to Bednarczyk’s family, adding, “All our thoughts are with Marta’s family who have been fully cooperative throughout what has been a devastating couple of days for them.”
