Florida: Alligator Bites Off Man’s Leg at RV Park and Is Later Spotted With Foot in Its Mouth

The 72-year-old victim allegedly lost his leg from the knee down after being bitten Friday at Great Outdoors RV and Golf Resort in Titusville.

A guy in Florida has lost a piece of his right leg after being attacked by an alligator at an RV park in Brevard County.

According to NBC network WESH and CBS work WKMG-TV, the 72-year-old victim lost his leg from the knee down after being bitten Friday at Great Outdoors RV and Golf Resort in Titusville.

According to Brevard County Fire Rescue (BCFR) officials, the animal took the man’s leg off during the incident, which was reported to authorities just before 2 p.m., according to WKMG-TV and Florida Today.

According to WKMG-TV, the reptile withdrew into the water following the attack.

According to WESH, authorities from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office discovered an alligator with a human foot sticking out of its jaws a short time later.

According to WESH and Florida Today, the person was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne for treatment. His condition is unknown.

According to Florida Today, the FWC stated in a statement that a nuisance alligator trapper came to the area following the attack.

Following Friday’s attack, Florida Fish and Wildlife authorities captured and killed two alligators, according to WKMG-TV and FOX station WSVN. It’s unknown which alligator was responsible for the attack.

According to WESH, an FWC officer eventually recovered the victim’s leg and foot from the water.

Local resident Ron Peoples told WESH that alligators would lie on a bank “about 15 feet between the house and the water.”

He said the reptiles have been found under cars in nearby garages “because they’re going from lake to lake” during mating season, per the report.

“They basically live here like we do. We just have to be respectful of them and cautious,” Peoples told the outlet.
