Giles DeaconFrench Fashion house Emanuel Ungaro has announced that the British designer Giles Deacon will take over the role of Creative Director at the Paris – based label. The fashion house has been on the ropes for a while now and Deacon joins the team at a critical moment. The CEO, designers for both men’s and women’s labels and their artistic adviser all have just left the fashion house. Giles Deacon becomes the fifth creative director in about 5 years.

Emanuel Ungaro started losing money in 2004, which was right after the retirement of the founder. In 2006 Mounir Moufarrige became the CEO and president of the label. He has made a reputation and career out of rejuvenating such brand. But in this case he was unable to and stepped down last year.

Giles graduated from the Central Saint Martins School of Design. He has worked for Gucci and Bottega Veneta, major Italian luxury brands. He launched in own brand in 2004 and won the best new designer award at the London Fashion Week. He also received the Designer of the year award in 2006.

The statement said that Deacon will show his first collection for Ungaro next season, during Paris spring-summer 2011 ready-to-wear collections in October.
