Tom Cruise is known for his intense dedication to his craft, but according to sources, this commitment has come at the expense of personal relationships. An insider revealed to In Touch that Cruise’s social circle is limited to fellow A-listers and industry moguls, all in service of his movie ambitions.
“Tom literally has no friends who can keep pace with him,” the source shared. “Let’s be real here, Tom lives for the business of being a global movie star, and it’s not exactly ‘work’ for him because he goes at it like a 24/7 lifestyle choice.”
The insider explained that Cruise only socializes with those who can further his career, noting, “He only socializes with the moguls and other A-listers to further his movie ambitions.” Despite his fame and success, Cruise is described as a solitary figure who would rather be filming a high-octane stunt than enjoying downtime. “It’s pretty clear when you spend any stretch of time with him that he’s a lonely guy and would rather be off shooting a mega stunt than pretending he likes his downtime,” the source added.
Even when Cruise does take vacations, they are often tied to work. “He doesn’t even take vacations without pasting on some kind of work function to it,” the insider noted, adding, “You want to tell the guy, ‘get a life!’ but with a person as strong-willed as Tom, that would never work.”
This intense focus on work was on full display during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, where Cruise rappelled into the Stade de France stadium to take hold of the Olympic flag. According to OK!, Cruise even argued with producers over the visibility of his safety rope, feeling it made the stunt less believable.
“He loves his lifestyle, but he’s becoming a one-man band at this point,” the insider said. “He keeps saying that he lives for the grind of working – as long as he can be in charge!”
