Rapper Soulja Boy has been ordered to pay a staggering $4 million after a jury found him liable in a lawsuit involving sexual assault, harassment, and emotional abuse. The woman behind the case, identified only as Jane Doe, accused the Crank That (Soulja Boy) artist of repeated abuse during what started as a professional relationship but turned into something far darker.
According to court documents, Jane Doe began working as Soulja Boy’s assistant in 2018. She claimed that what began as a job quickly shifted into a romantic relationship, but it soon became abusive and controlling. Her lawsuit, filed in January 2021, alleged a range of disturbing behavior, including physical assaults, emotional manipulation, and threats.

She testified that the rapper had locked her in a room for days without food, sent her explicit photos, and physically attacked her on several occasions. One of the key pieces of evidence in the case was a series of disturbing text messages allegedly sent by Soulja Boy, including one that said, “Die b. Shoulda kild your stupid ass.”

Photos showing visible bruises and scarring were also presented in court. The jury ultimately found him liable for causing emotional distress, sexual harassment, and failure to pay wages. However, they did not find him guilty on the claims of false imprisonment and unfair dismissal.
The total judgment awarded to Jane Doe amounts to over $4 million, which includes compensation for lost wages, pain and suffering, and punitive damages. The ruling represents a major blow to Soulja Boy’s public image, especially considering his early reputation as a social media pioneer and chart-topping artist.
Throughout the trial, Jane Doe’s legal team argued that Soulja Boy used his fame and power to manipulate and control her, promising career opportunities that never materialized while subjecting her to ongoing mistreatment.

Soulja Boy has yet to comment publicly on the ruling.
The verdict has been seen by some legal experts as a significant moment, especially in terms of how courts are addressing emotional abuse and harassment in the workplace — even when that workplace involves celebrities and personal assistants. The inclusion of digital evidence like texts and photos proved critical to the outcome, highlighting how modern tech can support victims in these kinds of cases.
Jane Doe is said to be relieved with the outcome and hopes her case inspires others to speak up. Her attorneys called the verdict “a clear message that abuse has consequences, no matter who you are.”
While Soulja Boy has made headlines for his music and online antics over the years, this case has cast a much darker shadow over his legacy — and it may take far more than a comeback track to fix it.
