Megan Thee Stallion’s Emotional Reaction to Judge’s Ruling in Tory Lanez Case
Megan Thee Stallion has been granted a civil restraining order against Tory Lanez, the rapper who was convicted of shooting her in 2020, providing her with a sense of relief after a long legal battle.
As reported by Billboard, the 29-year-old rapper testified remotely before Los Angeles Judge Richard Bloom on Thursday, January 10, becoming emotional as she described the harassment she has faced at the hands of the 32-year-old Canadian rapper, who is currently imprisoned.
Megan testified that Tory Lanez had conducted a “campaign of harassment” against her while he had been incarcerated. “He intended to terrorize me,” Megan stated, shedding light on the distress she has endured since the shooting incident. She expressed that she was “just tired of being harassed” by the rapper, who has continued to make efforts to reach her while behind bars.
Megan also shared her concerns about potential violent retribution once Tory Lanez is released from custody. She revealed that she feared he would seek revenge for the conviction. In response to these allegations, Judge Richard Bloom ruled that Tory Lanez must not contact Megan—whose full name is Megan Jovon Ruth Pete—in any way, including through intermediaries, for a period of five years.
This restraining order comes after a lengthy legal dispute between the two rappers stemming from the 2020 shooting incident. Five years ago, during an argument, Tory Lanez shot Megan in the feet, leading to his conviction on charges of assault with a semiautomatic weapon. He is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for the crime.
The civil restraining order provides Megan Thee Stallion with additional protection as she continues to deal with the aftermath of the traumatic event, while also reflecting the legal system’s response to her claims of ongoing harassment. This ruling marks another significant step in Megan’s pursuit of justice and peace of mind.
