Machine Gun Kelly, the 34-year-old musician, recently opened up about the pivotal role his teenage daughter, Casie, played in his journey to sobriety. During his appearance on the August 18th episode of the Million Dollar Worth of Game podcast, MGK shared how a heartbreaking conversation with Casie, now 15, set him on the path to recovery.

“It started with my daughter saying, ‘Dad, you know I can tell when you’re high?’” MGK recalled, revealing that Casie was just 11 or 12 years old at the time. The rapper reflected on the profound impact her words had on him, saying, “It broke my heart. It was the ultimate letdown.”

Despite the emotional wake-up call, it took MGK a few more years to finally achieve sobriety. “It took me a while afterward because obviously, drugs have a vice grip on you. That was step one for me,” he explained. The Killshot rapper emphasized the importance of breaking the cycle of addiction for the sake of his daughter. “As a father and as a man, to be the father I wish my dad would have been, I have to break this generational curse for my kid.”

Born Colson Baker, MGK revealed earlier this month that he’s been “completely sober from everything,” including alcohol, marijuana, and pills, after quietly starting rehab in 2023. “I don’t drink anymore. I haven’t drank since last August,” he shared during an appearance on Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast, where he celebrated one year of sobriety.

MGK’s candid revelations highlight the challenges of overcoming addiction and the powerful influence of family in motivating positive change. His journey underscores the importance of breaking generational cycles and setting a healthier example for the next generation.
