Kristen Bell Shares Her Kids’ Unexpected Reaction to ‘Frozen’
Kristen Bell, best known for voicing Anna in Disney’s beloved Frozen franchise, recently shared that while her children may not be the biggest fans of the movie, they certainly appreciate the benefits that come with it. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Bell offered some insight into how her kids feel about her iconic role.
“They certainly appreciate it in the fact that they can go to college because of it, but they’re not part of the Frozen phenomenon,” Bell revealed. Despite her global fame as Anna, her kids seem unfazed by the movie’s massive popularity.
As a mother of two, Bell understands why her children aren’t as enchanted by the film as the rest of the world. “Kids are meant to make you feel grounded, and they are meant to reject things their parents are involved in,” she said with a laugh. “Even if they secretly liked it, they would never tell me.”
While her kids may not be the movie’s biggest cheerleaders, Bell’s own passion for Frozen remains strong. “I had always dreamed of getting the chance to work on a Disney animated film,” she explained, reflecting on the excitement she felt when cast as Anna.
Bell’s approach to the character was refreshingly unconventional. She wanted Anna to break the mold of traditional Disney princesses, who are often portrayed as graceful and flawless. “I said, ‘All the Disney princesses stand like this, their hands are always perfect, their posture is perfect,'” Bell recalled. “I want her [Anna] to be the opposite. I want her to wake up with drool in her mouth, I want her to snore, and I want her to talk too much and too fast, wear her heart on her sleeve, and trip over things.”
This quirky, relatable version of Anna was a collaborative effort between Bell and the creative team behind Frozen. “This whole experience was really collaborative,” Bell said. “Some of those things they wrote in, and others they didn’t, and they let me kind of take the reins.”
Bell remains incredibly proud of her work on Frozen and the impact it’s had. “I still get such a sense of joy when I see it because I’m very proud,” she shared, reflecting on her role in the beloved Disney classic.
With Frozen 3 and Frozen 4 in the works, fans can expect Bell to reprise her role as Anna, bringing even more of her unique charm to the character. While her kids may not be rushing to watch the movies, Bell’s pride in the project is as strong as ever.
