John Travolta left fans emotional after sharing a heartfelt tribute to his late son Jett on what would have been his 33rd birthday. The 71-year-old actor took to Instagram on Sunday, April 13, posting a rare and touching throwback photo showing a younger Travolta smiling while holding baby Jett, who can be seen playfully grabbing his dad’s ears.
“Happy birthday Jett – I miss you so much!” Travolta wrote. “Love you forever!”, according to US Weekly.
It was a deeply personal post that resonated with fans around the world, many of whom remember the tragedy that struck Travolta’s family back in 2009. Jett, the eldest of three children Travolta shared with his late wife Kelly Preston, died at just 16 years old after suffering a seizure during a family holiday in the Bahamas. He reportedly hit his head on a bathtub and could not be saved.

Travolta has always spoken candidly about the pain of losing his son. During an appearance at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 2014, he called Jett’s death “the worst thing that’s ever happened in my life.”
But heartbreak didn’t stop there. Eleven years later, Travolta lost his wife Kelly Preston to breast cancer. She passed away in 2020 at the age of 57, adding another devastating chapter to the actor’s life.
Despite everything, Travolta has remained devoted to his family, raising his two surviving children, Ella Bleu, now 25, and Benjamin, 14.
His tribute to Jett has struck a chord with fans and followers alike, who flooded the comments with messages of love, support, and remembrance. Many praised Travolta for his strength and openness in sharing such a personal moment, reminding others they’re not alone in their grief.
