Simon Cowell, the music mogul, is recovering after a second terrifying accident on his e-bike.

The 62-year-old was rushed to hospital in West London after flying over his bike’s handlebars at 20 mph on Monday.

Simon was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time and dove into the pavement, with a source close to the star stating that he is ‘lucky to be alive.’

The father-of-one was not completely unscathed by the accident, however, and was left with a broken arm, concussion, and facial cuts.

A passerby tried to care for him until paramedics arrived to transport him to the hospital, where he was released the same day, but it was a close call.

A source described the scene telling The Sun: ‘Simon is lucky to be alive. He was peddling along, with his electric motor on, when the wheels suddenly went from under him after hitting a wet patch.

‘He slipped and went flying over the handlebars into the middle of the road.’

They went on to say how much blood was gushing from his face, making him look like the Phantom of the Opera.

It’s Simon’s second near-miss on his e-bike in less than a year and a half. In August of 2020, he broke his back in another accident in Malibu that nearly paralyzed him.

He joked about reading the manual before getting on the bike at the time.

Despite the second accident, Simon has reportedly vowed to get back on his bike, but according to the source, he will wear a helmet from now on.

According to the Daily Mail, after his first bike accident, he stated, ‘That was more an electric motorbike – these are called pedal-assist bikes and they’re brilliant.

‘That expression “get back on your bike” with me, was literal. I feel better than I did because I exercise so much more.’
