Elle Fanning Recalls Timothée Chalamet’s ‘Extraordinary’ Bob Dylan Performance in Upcoming Biopic
Elle Fanning shared a touching memory of her first experience seeing Timothée Chalamet portray Bob Dylan in the upcoming biopic A Complete Unknown. During a joint conversation with her sister, Dakota Fanning, at The Wrap’s 2024 WrapWomen Power Women Summit, the 26-year-old actress reflected on her time on set, describing Chalamet’s portrayal as nothing short of “extraordinary.”
Elle revealed that on her first day on the set, she was an audience member as Timothée performed an iconic Bob Dylan song, “A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall.” “He came out and he actually gave us a full-on concert, like Bob Dylan,” Elle recalled. She explained how she was moved by the experience, especially considering their previous collaboration on the 2019 film A Rainy Day in New York.
“I remember tearing up,” she admitted. “He’s a friend of mine [and we’ve] worked together before. And so seeing him accomplish this and this character in such a beautiful way [was moving].”
In A Complete Unknown, Elle Fanning plays the role of Sylvie Russo, Bob Dylan’s girlfriend, and she was clearly touched by Chalamet’s performance, which she described as deeply emotional.
The film, which tells the life story of the legendary singer, marks a significant moment in both Chalamet and Fanning’s careers. Fans can look forward to seeing how Chalamet brings the iconic folk musician to life on screen, as well as Fanning’s portrayal of his love interest.
