Dakota Johnson Fuels Breakup Rumors with Chris Martin Amid Missing Engagement Ring

Dakota Johnson has seemingly added to the speculation surrounding her relationship with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, following her recent appearance without her engagement ring. The Fifty Shades of Grey actress, who has been dating Martin since 2017, sparked rumors of a split during her outing at the Kering Foundation’s annual Caring for Women dinner on Monday, where she was notably not wearing her engagement ring.
Johnson, 34, and Martin were reportedly ready to take their relationship to the next level, with engagement rumors surfacing as early as 2020. The couple confirmed their engagement in March 2023, but just two months later, rumors of a breakup began circulating.
In June, the couple seemed to dispel those rumors when Johnson attended Glastonbury Festival to watch Coldplay’s headline performance. However, shortly after, Johnson posted a picture from the set of her new film Daddio, where her engagement ring was conspicuously missing, via Daily Mail.
The speculation continued last month when Johnson was again spotted without the ring while walking her dog in Malibu, as Martin was away performing in Germany. This fueled further rumors that the couple had called it quits.
At the time, a source claimed that the pair had been struggling to keep the relationship going, stating, “They’ll always have love for each other but they’ve both come to the conclusion the relationship cannot be sustained long-term.”
The insider added, “They’re both busy people… and they both have personal priorities, passions, and work commitments which don’t naturally intertwine with each other.”
Despite the swirling rumors, neither Johnson nor Martin have issued an official statement regarding the status of their relationship, leaving fans and media to continue speculating about the couple’s future.
