Renowned media personality and TV host Wendy Williams has vehemently denied claims about her alleged battle with dementia, calling her current legal guardianship a form of “emotional abuse.”

The 60-year-old radio and TV star, diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in May 2023, spoke candidly during an appearance on The Breakfast Club, where she addressed the allegations and her ongoing struggle for independence.

In a conversation with former co-host Charlamagne Tha God, Williams shed light on her current situation and the toll it has taken on her. “I am not cognitively impaired, but I feel like I am in prison. I am definitely isolated,” Williams declared, pushing back against claims that she is incapacitated.

Detailing her life under guardianship, the Dancing with the Stars alum shared, “To talk to these people who live here, that is not my cup of tea. I keep the door closed. I watch TV. I listen to the radio. I watch the window. I sit here, and my life goes by.”

Williams also revealed a heartbreaking detail about her current living situation: she no longer has her beloved pets. “They are gone,” she said, sharing that they were taken away despite her wishes to keep them with her.

For context, Williams has been under legal guardianship since 2022, after being described as “cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated” in court filings submitted by her guardian, Sabrina Marissey. These claims followed her diagnosis of early-onset dementia, which has been a point of contention.

Despite the legal and medical hurdles, Williams appeared determined to assert her autonomy and fight back against the restrictions she says have left her feeling isolated and powerless. “It feels like emotional abuse,” she emphasized during the interview.

Williams, best known for her sharp wit and unapologetic commentary on The Wendy Williams Show, remains a public figure whose health and legal struggles have drawn widespread attention. Her remarks on The Breakfast Club highlight the complexities of her situation and her ongoing battle to regain control of her life.

The interview offers a rare glimpse into Williams’ personal challenges and underscores her resolve to challenge the narrative surrounding her health and legal status. For fans and supporters, her words reflect resilience amid adversity.
