“She Can Now Be My Personal Uber”: Tori Spelling ‘cried like a baby’ on daughter Stella’s major milestone

Tori Spelling is celebrating a big moment as her daughter, Stella Doreen, takes a major step toward independence—earning her learner’s permit.

On Tuesday, December 10, the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum took to Instagram to share her excitement and pride. Spelling posted a photo of 16-year-old Stella confidently sitting behind the wheel, focused and ready to take on the road.

“So proud of @stella_mcdermott08. She’s officially on the road with her driver’s permit,” Spelling began in her heartfelt caption. “She worked hard and nailed the written test. Started her driving lessons. And can now be my personal Uber.”

The milestone triggered emotional memories for Spelling, who reflected on the days when Stella was just a baby safely strapped in the backseat. “My view is quite different—literally, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Couldn’t be more proud of this sweet 16.”

The proud mom of five admitted the experience was bittersweet, and she couldn’t hold back her tears when Stella passed the test. “Not going to lie, I cried like a baby when she passed. Tears of pride. Now, I have six months to figure out a car situation [laughing with a tear emoji],” she joked.

Spelling wrapped up the post with a loving note for her daughter: “I love you, Buggy [ladybug emoji]. #driving #learnerspermit #driverspermit.” Stella, who recently turned 16, is the second oldest of Spelling’s five children, whom she shares with estranged husband Dean McDermott, reported People Magazine.

In addition to Stella, the couple co-parents Liam Aaron, 17, Hattie Margaret, 13, Finn Davey, 12, and Beau Dean, 7. The heartwarming post resonated with Spelling’s followers, many of whom commented on how relatable the milestone is for parents watching their children grow up.

Spelling’s playful nod to Stella becoming her “personal Uber” captured the blend of humor and pride that often comes with parenting teenagers taking their first steps toward independence. As Stella embarks on her driving journey, it’s clear she has her mom cheering her on every step of the way—while Spelling figures out her next big task: sorting out a car for her newest driver.
