BBC Breakfast star Naga Munchetty was missing from her usual seat on the red sofa during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee week – to present the show live from Buckingham Palace

When host Naga Munchetty left the studio to present the show live from Buckingham Palace, the BBC Breakfast format changed significantly.

Naga typically hosts the flagship BBC show Thursday through Saturday, where she can be seen sitting on the red sofa alongside her co-host Charlie Stayt.

However, the BBC speaker left the Salford studio on Thursday (June 2) to report live from Buckingham Palace in London on the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend.

The Jubilee celebrations, which will mark Her Majesty’s whopping 70 years of service, have resulted in a four-day weekend for Brits between Thursday and Sunday.

As the show began, Naga was excited to welcome viewers to the front of the monarch’s iconic palace.

Gesturing behind her, she said: “Take a look at this view over Buckingham Palace today. The sun is bathing it in glory. I think we’ve got the Queen Victoria statue just behind me.

“We’re at the center of this Jubilee holiday, which is finally here, and what we’re going to do on Breakfast over the coming days is look ahead to the full series of events marking the Queen’s 70 years on the throne.”

She added: “We’re going to keep you up to date. We’re going to take you through everything that you need to know about this Jubilee weekend.”

The camera pans to Britons dressed in Union Jack flags, who are already getting into the spirit of the Jubilee celebrations.

Naga also assured viewers that they would be kept up to date on the latest news in sports, news, and weather.

Naga’s co-star Ben Thompson was also present to anchor the rest of the show, so the studio was not left unattended.

Later, Naga spoke with the BBC’s royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell, who told viewers what to expect over the next four days.

Naga is not the first BBC Breakfast presenter to deliver her forecast from the palace; Carol Kirkwood delivered her forecast from the Buckingham Palace gardens on Wednesday.

During the show, she revealed that she had three meetings with the Queen and that the monarch had a “good sense of humor”

After her co-star Jon Kay joked that the Queen could be watching her from her window, she joked that she would soon be “escorted out” of the palace grounds.
