Khloe Kardashian clarifies ‘insult’ by son Tatum for Kourtney Kardashian

In the latest episode of The Kardashians, Kourtney Kardashian Barker revealed her dislike for a particular nickname. The 45-year-old reality TV star expressed her feelings about being called “Lovey” during a FaceTime conversation with her sister, Khloé Kardashian.

While touring Australia with her husband, Travis Barker, Kourtney received a video call from Khloé’s 23-month-old son, Tatum. As Tatum moved closer to the screen, his mother tried to encourage him to say hello to his aunt. Using the nickname he calls his grandmother, Kris Jenner, the little one addressed Kourtney as “Lovey,” prompting a reaction from her, told People.

“Kourtney, that is not an insult,” Khloé reassured her. In response, Kourtney asked, “Do I look like I’m in my 60s?” Reflecting on the situation in her confessional, Kourtney explained, “Obviously she’s my mom, and she’s beautiful. And she’s 20-something years older than me, so it’s not like the ultimate compliment. Or it kind of is I guess?”

The camera then cuts back to the scene where Khloé persistently urges Tatum to say, “Hi Auntie Kourt.” “Kourt,” Tatum finally said after understanding his mother. “Yes, this is Auntie Kourt, not Lovey,” Khloé told her son. Kourtney’s candid moment on the show sheds light on the playful yet personal dynamics within the Kardashian family.

It offers viewers a glimpse into how even the smallest interactions can carry significant meaning. This episode highlights the importance of names and nicknames in familial relationships, and how they can reflect deeper feelings and connections. Kourtney’s reaction to being called “Lovey” also underscores her desire to maintain her own identity, separate from the one her mother, Kris Jenner, has established with her grandchildren.

It is a reminder of the balance she seeks between honoring her family’s legacy and carving out her own space within it. This interaction not only adds depth to Kourtney’s character but also provides a relatable moment for many viewers who have their own preferences and sensitivities regarding nicknames. The episode captures a blend of humor and sincerity, showcasing the nuances of family dynamics within one of the world’s most famous families.
