Katy Perry Embroiled in $2million Lawsuit with Haircare Brand Ghd
Katy Perry is caught up in a multi-million dollar lawsuit with haircare brand ghd, according to reports. Media reports that Jemella Group have, the company behind ghd, have asked courts to block Katy Perry’s team from filing a lawsuit after the singer claimed she is owed $2million. Katy earned $4.5million as an ambassador for the brand but the company wish to cut ties with her, the website reports.
The Fireworks singer’s camp are said to claim that Katy is owed an additional $2million, based on an oral agreement. Jemella are said to deny that an oral agreement was ever in place and it is claimed the company want to ditch Perry because she isn’t as popular in Europe as she used to be. Media reports that a representative for Katy said: ‘Jemella’s attempt to embarrass Ms. Perry by including defamatory statements about her in a public filing is shameful.’
And the website reports that Katy said: ‘They’re backing out of the deal because of an ownership change, and just throwing shade to hide their bad faith.’ Katy was names the global face of the brand in 2011 and at the time she spoke of her delight at the pairing. She said: ‘I’m so excited to be working with ghd, especially using their tools on my California Dreams Tour to get me stage ready.’
A spokesperson for the haircare brand was unavailable for comment on Monday. Katy appears to be putting her legal woes to one side as she has been enjoying Coachella and was seen sporting a revealing outfit at a party on Saturday. – Dailymail
