Kate Hudson Set to Marry Fiancé Danny Fujikawa After Engagement

Kate Hudson is perfectly content in her relationship with fiancé Danny Fujikawa. The actress, 45, appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show on Monday, where she gushed about her fiancé of three years but admitted she isn’t rushing into wedding planning.

As the conversation turned to marriage, the Running Point star shared that she finds it difficult to embrace the idea of a “contractual” bond. “I just don’t have the same kind of like, ‘Oh my God, I’m going to get married, and I can’t wait and I can’t wait for the party.’ It’s the opposite. I’m like, ‘Okay, I have to plan it and then it’s going to cost so much money’ and it’s just a lot,” she told Drew Barrymore and Ross Mathews.

Hudson emphasized that she feels more comfortable with the idea of remaining engaged for now, admitting that the notion of “signing the government contract” makes her uneasy. To support her perspective, Hudson pointed to the example set by her mother, Goldie Hawn, and longtime partner Kurt Russell, who have been together since 1983 without officially tying the knot.

“They never signed the contract. They’ve been engaged since I was 7,” Hudson said. Hudson and Fujikawa started dating in 2016 after being friends for 15 years. They welcomed their first child together, daughter Rani Rose, in 2018. In addition to Rani Rose, Hudson has two sons from previous relationships.

She shares Ryder Russell Robinson with ex-husband Chris Robinson, whom she was married to from 2000 to 2007. She also shares Bingham Hawn Bellamy with Muse frontman Matt Bellamy. Fujikawa proposed to Hudson in September 2021 after nearly five years of dating.

That same evening, Hudson debuted her stunning engagement ring at the 2021 Met Gala, solidifying the excitement around their engagement. Despite the engagement milestone, Hudson remains in no hurry to walk down the aisle. Her comments suggest that, much like her mother, she prioritizes a strong, lasting relationship over a formal marriage contract. For now, she and Fujikawa appear happy and content just the way they are.
