Jeremy Renner shared a chilling account of his snowplow accident during a recent appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” revealing that he was fully conscious throughout the ordeal that left him with 38 broken bones. The 53-year-old actor, known for his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, described the traumatic experience in vivid detail, recalling how he prioritized his immediate survival over the shock of his injuries.

Renner recounted the moment he realized the extent of his injuries, telling Fallon, “And I look at my legs. They were all twisted up, and I’ll worry about that later because I’ve got to worry about breathing first, right?” This statement highlighted his critical state of mind as he grappled with the life-threatening situation, told Business Insider.

“It’s like, you see your eye with your other eye because my eyeball was out,” he detailed, further remembering, “So you have weird things that go through your head like, ‘Well, I guess that’s real, but like I’ll worry about that later.” “I had to exhale with all my might so I [could] suck air back in. Didn’t know I had a popped lung and all this other stuff going on. But I just had to breathe. If I didn’t breathe then I would have been gone, right?”

The accident resulted in severe physical damage, including multiple broken bones and the necessity for numerous surgeries. Remarkably, part of his recovery involved the insertion of metal into half of his face and back, marking a long and painful rehabilitation process.

Despite the severity of the accident, Renner’s spirit and resilience shone through as he discussed his recovery. He has not only made a full recovery but has also returned to acting and performing minor stunts. This return to form is a testament to his determination and the rigorous rehabilitation he underwent following the accident.

Renner’s candid recount of the events provides insight into the immediate thoughts and survival instincts that kicked in during the critical moments of the accident. His ability to focus on the essentials of survival before allowing himself to fully comprehend his injuries underscores the intense nature of the incident.

His appearance on “The Tonight Show” not only shed light on his personal strength and perseverance but also offered his fans a glimpse into the challenges he faced and overcame. This episode serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by heavy machinery like snowplows and the unpredictable nature of serious accidents.
