Jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer recently shared that Gwyneth Paltrow played a crucial role in her amicable divorce from Tobey Maguire. During an episode of the “Broad Ideas with Rachel Bilson & Olivia Allen” podcast on July 22, Meyer reflected on how Paltrow’s approach to separation influenced her own experience.

“Right when Tobey and I were starting to break up, I watched what Gwyneth Paltrow was doing with Chris [Martin],” Meyer confessed. She elaborated on witnessing Paltrow’s “conscious uncoupling” with Martin, saying, “This ‘conscious uncoupling’ that everyone was sort of making fun of, I got to see it firsthand.”

Meyer described Paltrow and Martin’s separation as “the most beautiful thing I had ever witnessed two human beings go through.” She admired Paltrow’s loving and kind approach, noting, “She was so loving and kind and open to him and she created this family”, told People Magazine.

Reflecting on her own upbringing, Meyer remarked, “I was taught that divorce is ugly,” contrasting it with the harmonious way Paltrow and Martin handled their breakup. Meyer revealed that Paltrow introduced her to Dr. Habib Sadeghi, the person who guided Paltrow toward the “conscious uncoupling lifestyle.”

“She didn’t tell me her process. She just said I have someone for you to meet with. Good luck, basically. I think you gotta give people their own process,” Meyer explained. She emphasized the impact of witnessing Paltrow and Martin’s amicable separation, stating, “I just witnessed their beautiful breakup, and I was like, you guys are an example for every couple who is breaking up.”

Meyer and Maguire married in September 2007 and separated in 2016, with their divorce finalized four years later. Despite the end of their marriage, Meyer spoke highly of Maguire, calling him her “best friend.” She added, “I literally have the best ex-husband in the world, and I hit the jackpot.”

Meyer’s experience underscores the influence of Paltrow’s conscious uncoupling philosophy, highlighting a shift towards more positive and supportive approaches to separation.
