Jennifer Lopez Urges Fans to Vote in 2024 Election Amid Divorce from Ben Affleck
Jennifer Lopez is encouraging her fans to vote in the upcoming 2024 United States general election, even as she navigates her ongoing divorce from her estranged husband Ben Affleck. The 55-year-old actress and singer has partnered with the non-partisan organization I Am A Voter to spread awareness about the importance of voting, according to MailOnline.
In a video message, the On The Floor hitmaker addressed U.S. citizens, reminding them of the significance of the upcoming election. “The general election is coming up on November 5, and most can vote earlier than that,” Lopez said. She went on to emphasize the key stakes of the election, adding, “This year we’re voting for President, every seat in the House, a third of the Senate, and key state and local leaders who directly shape our lives. So let’s do this together.”
Lopez also urged her fans to check their voter registration by texting “VOTER” to 26797, encouraging them to make a plan to cast their votes. She concluded her message with a personal call to action, saying, “I’m a voter. Are you?”
The 37-second video comes as Lopez is dealing with personal changes, including her recent separation from actor Ben Affleck. Despite the end of their two-year marriage, sources told PEOPLE that Lopez is “not bitter” and is “focusing on her future.”
Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck in August 2024, citing irreconcilable differences. Despite the split, the singer is looking ahead, using her platform to inspire civic engagement during this critical election year.
