Hailey Bieber’s Health Scare Exposes a Hidden Danger Every Woman Needs to Know About

After Hailey Bieber opened up about a personal health struggle, a leading medical expert has offered crucial insights into the condition affecting the model. Following her recent appearance at Coachella, Hailey, 28, took to her Instagram Story to share a candid selfie of her bloated stomach, revealing she was suffering from two ovarian cysts.

“Currently have 2 ovarian cysts [sad face emoji] if you deal with ovarian cysts, I’m right there with ya! [red heart with a bandage emoji],” she wrote, offering support to others experiencing the same health challenge.

Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs that develop on or within the ovaries, affecting an estimated 10% to 30% of women at some point during their lives. To help demystify the condition, Dr. Masarat Jilani, a resident doctor at Jude and an expert in genito-urinary medicine, explained the symptoms, causes, and potential risks associated with ovarian cysts, as told to the Daily Mail.

Breaking down the symptoms, Dr. Jilani noted, “If you find yourself needing to urinate more often, or experiencing pelvic pressure or pain, these could occasionally be related to ovarian cysts, especially larger ones.” She added, “A feeling of not fully emptying the bladder can also occur, though less commonly.

Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs that have formed on the ovaries, and they’re surprisingly common in women of reproductive age, like Hailey Bieber.” While ovarian cysts often go unnoticed and may resolve without medical intervention, Dr. Jilani warned that they can sometimes cause “uncomfortable symptoms” or lead to “serious complications.” Other common symptoms she listed include:

  • Persistent pelvic pain, typically on one side
  • Frequent bloating or a sense of fullness quickly after eating
  • Irregular periods, heavier, lighter, or missed periods
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Lower back pain or aches

“These symptoms are often subtle and can overlap with many other conditions, which are common for women at all stages of life from puberty to menopause, and unfortunately, this is why ovarian cysts can sometimes be overlooked or misdiagnosed initially,” Dr. Jilani explained.

She urged individuals experiencing persistent or new symptoms to consult a GP or gynecologist for further evaluation. Additionally, Dr. Jilani recommended maintaining a “symptom diary” to track any patterns, aiding healthcare providers in diagnosis and management.

Sharing a final word of caution, Dr. Jilani stated, “Although most ovarian cysts are benign (harmless), apart from the discomfort they may cause, early diagnosis and proper management can make a big difference to your quality of life. That said, a twisted or ruptured cyst can easily become a medical emergency, so if you notice sudden and severe pelvic pain, perhaps with fever or dizziness, then seek urgent medical attention.” Source: NHS
