Ben Affleck is winning hearts online after making heartfelt remarks about his ex-wife Jennifer Lopez during the premiere of his new film, The Accountant 2, proving that even after their split, respect and admiration still run deep.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet, the Gone Girl actor, 52, shared how excited he was to have all the kids together for the premiere. Affleck shares three children — Violet, Fin, and Samuel — with his former wife Jennifer Garner. Lopez, 55, is also a mother to twins Max and Emme, whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
“Kids are here, Jen’s kids are here. I’m very, very excited. I love it when all the kids come out. It’s really fun, it’s exciting,” Affleck said, his face lighting up, told Page Six.
He then turned the spotlight on Lopez, sharing rare public praise for her role in his family’s life. “For the record, Jennifer Lopez is spectacular. She is great to my kids, has an ongoing relationship with them, I love her kids, they are wonderful,” he said.
Affleck didn’t stop there. “She is enormously important, a tremendous person with a lot of integrity who I adore and am grateful to. I’m thrilled that the kids are here with me. The relationship that you could have with children like that it’s the joy of my life. Those kids are amazing, and I’m glad that this is the movie they wanted to come to.”
When the interviewer called him a “great dad,” Affleck humbly replied, “I am trying my best, I certainly do.”
The internet quickly erupted with admiration for Affleck’s sincerity and warmth. Fans filled social media with emotional reactions. One user wrote, “He’s just amazing, and so is she!!” while another commented, “Their kids have really bonded, ‘blended’ wonderfully.”
Affleck and Lopez tied the knot in July 2022 after rekindling their early 2000s romance, but they quietly split in January 2025. Despite the breakup, it’s clear the bond between their families remains strong.
Professionally, Affleck is stepping back into a fan-favorite role in The Accountant 2, the sequel to his 2016 hit. The film is set to hit theaters on April 25, 2025, and thanks to moments like this, it’s already getting plenty of buzz.
