Ben Affleck has shared a humorous peek into his family life, revealing a friendly but competitive dynamic between him and his daughter, particularly when it comes to who speaks better Spanish.
During a recent appearance on Today, the 51-year-old actor and director spoke about a long-running challenge he shares with one of his children, whom he co-parents with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.

“My daughter is a student of Spanish and often competes with me. She’ll tell me hers is better than mine, and I’m glad I had the chance to be on national television and just claim victory,” Affleck said with a grin, told Daily Mail.
“But she’ll be appalled, by the way,” he added, acknowledging that his public declaration might not sit well at home. “I will say, yes, I can speak a bit of Spanish, and it’s a nice thing. I learned it when I was younger.”
Affleck and Garner, who divorced in 2018, share three children: Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12. Though the Hollywood star is often private about his personal life, he offered more lighthearted reflections while promoting his upcoming film The Accountant 2.
At the film’s premiere, Affleck shared a rare dad moment that made him beam with pride. “My son loves everybody, but he’s shocked that I somehow know people he thinks are cool,” Affleck told E! News. “He’s like, ‘Why do these people want to hang out with my dad?’ Which may be a valuable question, but I’m getting away with it.”

Affleck recalled his son Samuel’s reaction to watching The Accountant, the 2016 action thriller in which Affleck plays a math genius with deadly skills. “Dad, I think it might be my favorite movie of yours,” Samuel told him.
“That was high praise, which doesn’t come easy from your kids,” Affleck admitted, clearly touched by the moment. While Affleck is often in the headlines for his professional work and high-profile relationships—including his marriage to Jennifer Lopez—these recent anecdotes offer a refreshing, down-to-earth glimpse at his life as a father.
