Angelina Jolie Faces Setback as Directorial Film Without Blood Fails to Impress Critics
Angelina Jolie had high hopes for her latest directorial project, Without Blood, but the film has reportedly failed to win over critics, causing the Oscar-winning actress some embarrassment. This disappointment comes in stark contrast to the success of her other recent film, Maria, in which she stars in the lead role and has garnered rave reviews.
A source told In Touch, “Angelina is a little annoyed that she’s having to juggle the solid success of Maria, which has firmly put her in the Oscar race and back into business with Netflix, and her passion project Without Blood.” Insiders reveal that Jolie had high expectations for Without Blood, believing it to be a film that could “change the world” when she first conceived it. However, its lackluster reception at its film festival debut, marked by apathetic reviews and weak audience response, has left her disappointed.
The source noted that the fate of both films now rests with the broader public. “As both movies march toward being seen by a larger audience, Angelina is going to have to thread the needle here a bit, especially because she has always seen directing as a way to stay in the business once she ages out of these leading lady roles.”
The insider added that Jolie is committed to directing more films and has assembled a dedicated team to support her future projects. “She wants to direct more movies, in no uncertain terms, and she has installed a whole team around her for those projects that will follow her into the gates of hell to get these films made.”
However, the source expressed concern about the financial viability of Without Blood. “The trick is, they have to make money, and nobody thinks Without Blood can make a profit,” the insider concluded, highlighting the challenges Jolie faces as she navigates her dual roles as an actress and director.
