Billy Ray Cyrus Files for Divorce from Firerose Less Than a Year After Marriage

Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose have decided to end their marriage. According to People, the 62-year-old country star filed for divorce from the singer, whose real name is Johanna Rose Hodges, in Nashville. The couple tied the knot in October 2023, making the split occur less than a year later.

The court documents cite “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital conduct” as the reasons for the divorce, with Cyrus also seeking an annulment on the grounds of fraud. When the documents were obtained, it was noted that Cyrus and Firerose, 37, had unfollowed each other on Instagram, signaling a clear rift between the two.

The musical duo had been friends for years and began collaborating on songwriting during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their professional relationship eventually blossomed into a romantic one, and they started dating in 2022. They got engaged later that year and married in October 2023.

“10/10/23 will always be the beautiful, joyous day that our two souls united as one in holy matrimony,” they wrote in a collaborative Instagram post at the time of their wedding. “It was the most perfect, ethereal celebration of love we could have ever imagined.”

The news of their divorce has come as a surprise to many fans, given the couple’s seemingly joyous union less than a year ago. The split marks a significant change in what was once celebrated as a perfect match.
