Donald Trump Demands Compensation Following Dominion-Fox Settlement

After Dominion Voting Systems reached a settlement agreement with Fox News to resolve a $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit, former President Donald Trump has expressed his belief that he deserves a payout as well. The lawsuit stemmed from claims made by Fox News hosts questioning the legitimacy of the 2020 election, with Dominion challenging the network’s statements.

The settlement between Dominion and Fox News amounted to $787.5 million, prompting Trump to argue that he should receive compensation for the perceived harm caused to him by media organizations.

Taking to his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump voiced his dissatisfaction, stating, “Dominion gets almost a Billion Dollars and I, after years of Fake News, Hoaxes, Scams, and Investigations, am entitled to NOTHING? Is that really the way it’s supposed to work? I don’t think so!” This outburst follows a recent lawsuit filed by Trump’s media group against The Washington Post, seeking $3.78 billion in damages. Legal experts have questioned the validity of the lawsuit, deeming it illogical.

Despite numerous lawsuits debunking claims of election fraud and leading to the national unrest that culminated in the Capitol siege of January 2021, Trump persistently maintains that the 2020 election was rigged in favor of President Joe Biden.

These assertions form a central pillar of his 2024 presidential campaign, placing him ahead among Republican candidates. Trump has also faced legal scrutiny for his actions, with the Fulton County District Attorney examining whether his conversation with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, urging him to “find” votes, constituted an illegal attempt to overturn the election. Trump, however, continues to describe the call as “perfect.”

In a recent town hall event with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, Trump reaffirmed his belief in election fraud and indicated that he would refrain from making “polarizing” comments on the matter during his 2024 presidential bid unless he perceived fraud occurring.

He insinuated that interference in the 2024 election was already being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Justice. This assertion showcases Trump’s unwavering dedication to discussing allegations of election fraud in the public sphere.
