Sherri Shepherd fires Wendy Williams’ producers and seeks “fresh energy

Sherri Shepherd has decided to replace Wendy Williams’ executive producers, David Perler and Suzanne Bass, for the second season of her daytime talk show.

The decision to bring in fresh energy for the new season was made as Season 1 of “Sherri” comes to an end this month. Perler stayed on to help launch the new show, but his role will not continue.

Bass, who was more of a “sidekick and buffer” to Williams, is not as useful as Shepherd, who is also a comedian and actress, told Page Six.

Jawn Murray, Shepherd’s producer bestie and a new executive producer, has partially taken on that role. Debmar-Mercury, the production company behind both the Williams and Shepherd shows, will announce a new executive producer to serve alongside Murray for Season 2.

Perler and Bass have been an integral part of Debmar-Mercury’s success in daytime syndication, and the company hopes to work with them again in the future.
