“That Sounded Worse Than I Meant It”: Whoopi Goldberg Issues an Apology on “The View” for NSFW Innuendo

Liz Cheney, the former Republican congresswoman from Wyoming, is currently promoting her new book titled “Oath and Honor: A Memoir and a Warning.” This book reportedly delves into detailed accusations against former President Donald Trump, suggesting he had autocratic ambitions.

According to CNN, Cheney is considering a third-party candidacy to prevent Trump from returning to the presidency. She stated, “We’re at a moment where the possibility of a third-party run is something we have to consider more than we ever have before because of the threat that Trump poses.”

Her statement became a topic of discussion on the popular TV show “The View.” During this segment, moderator Whoopi Goldberg inadvertently made a humorous gaffe while discussing voting processes, saying, “I like it when somebody puts their thing in the box,” accompanied by a gesture of pushing something into a box, before realizing the unintended implication of her words.

As reported by Decider, Her co-hosts, including Sara Haines and Sunny Hostin, reacted with laughter after Goldberg quickly clarified, “I know that sounded worse than I meant it.” Alyssa Farah Griffin, another co-host, warned about the dangers of a Trump presidency, suggesting that it could lead the U.S. toward dictatorship. She supported Cheney’s stance, emphasizing Cheney’s commitment to democracy. Sunny Hostin expressed openness to Cheney’s idea of a split ticket to counter Trump’s influence.

Goldberg also reflected on the importance of individual voting decisions over polls, stating, “This is not about them, this is about us… I like it when somebody goes in and they vote.” In her book, Cheney discusses the need for unity against Trump, regardless of policy differences, for the sake of the Constitution.

She warns that assuming institutions will automatically defend themselves against threats like those posed by Trump is naive. Cheney highlights Trump’s past remarks on suspending the Constitution and his attitude towards the events of January 6, underscoring the potential dangers of his presidency.
