Legal Experts Discuss Potential Strategy by Special Counsel Jack Smith in Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Case
On MSNBC’s “The Last Word With Lawrence O’Donnell,” insights were shared regarding Special Counsel Jack Smith’s approach to the Mar-a-Lago documents case associated with former president Donald Trump. Former prosecutor Glenn Kirschner and national security attorney Bradley Moss discussed the recent actions by Smith that suggest a potential turning point in the case.
Moss commented on the importance of being direct, stating, “If the government possesses concrete evidence, it should be stated clearly and not be veiled.” He further emphasized that merely hinting wouldn’t persuade Judge Cannon, urging for clarity in the proceedings.
Kirschner highlighted past events, mentioning how Smith had previously managed to make someone turn against Trump. He referenced the case involving attorney Stanley Woodward, who had hesitated to proceed with a hearing regarding potential conflicts in representing a Mar-a-Lago IT director, known as Mr. Taveras. Eventually, Taveras chose to cooperate.
