Despite facing backlash and skepticism surrounding their version of events, Prince Harry, 38, and Meghan, 41, remain resolute in their determination not to fade into the background. According to a source, the couple is steadfast in their commitment to stand up for themselves and speak out when they feel wronged.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently found themselves pursued by what they described as an aggressive group of paparazzi in New York City. The incident occurred after their attendance at the 2023 Women of Vision Awards on May 16. The couple’s spokesperson claimed that the relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours, resulted in several near collisions involving other drivers, pedestrians, and even two NYPD officers.

The spokesperson emphasized that while public figures attract public interest, it should never come at the expense of anyone’s safety. The dissemination of these images, obtained through intrusive means, only encourages a dangerous practice.

Although a member of their security detail suggested that the situation could have been fatal, the NYPD clarified that Harry and Meghan reached their destination safely, with no reported collisions, injuries, arrests, or summonses, according to Us Weekly.

Following the incident, Whoopi Goldberg shared her perspective on The View, highlighting the challenges posed by busy Manhattan traffic. Goldberg expressed skepticism, noting that the circumstances described by the couple’s spokesperson are more commonly associated with Los Angeles, where high-speed chases occur. Co-host Joy Behar shared a similar sentiment, humorously remarking on the intensity of traffic in the city.

However, Sunny Hostin encouraged her colleagues to consider Harry’s unique perspective, given the tragic loss of his mother, Princess Diana, in a fatal car crash involving paparazzi. Hostin acknowledged that if Harry felt scared during the incident, it should be acknowledged and respected.

Harry has previously opened up about the impact of his mother’s death on his life. He admitted to struggling with denial and hope, at times believing that she might still be alive. However, he eventually came to terms with her passing and accepted the reality of her absence.

In the wake of their own harrowing experience with photographers, a source revealed that Harry and Meghan were genuinely terrified throughout the ordeal. Buckingham Palace declined to comment on the incident.
