Trump Replaces Obama Portrait, Plants ‘MAGAnolia’, and Now… Two Giant Flag Poles

President Donald Trump has unveiled his latest patriotic initiative—installing two towering American flagpoles on the White House grounds, describing them as “beautiful” and something the property has been missing for centuries. The announcement was made during an unannounced visit to the North Lawn on Wednesday, April 23, where Trump laid out his vision for the project.

“They’ve needed flag poles for 200 years,” Trump told reporters as he stood near the site where one of the nearly 100-foot poles will be installed. “I’ve often said, you know, they don’t have a flag pole, per se. So we’re putting one right where you saw us, and we’re putting another one on the other side, on top of the mounds. It’s going to be two beautiful poles.”

Trump also added that the project would be “paid for by Trump,” though he did not specify whether the funding would come from personal finances or campaign resources. The move is part of a broader wave of changes Trump has introduced since returning to the capital. Inside the White House, the décor has undergone notable updates, reports USA Today.

Gold trim now highlights portrait frames and furniture in the Oval Office. Two new portraits of Trump have also been added to the walls—one replacing the former display of President Barack Obama, and another positioned between images of Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush.

This is not the first time Trump has taken on symbolic aesthetic changes to the presidential grounds. Earlier this month, he revealed plans to remove one of the historic magnolia trees planted by President Andrew Jackson nearly 200 years ago. In its place, Trump planted a new magnolia sapling, which he playfully dubbed the “MAGAnolia.”

“The original tree, though rich in history, had become a safety hazard and needed to be replaced,” Trump said at the time, emphasizing the importance of both safety and symbolism.

News of the flagpole project quickly spread across social media, prompting a wave of reactions. Supporters praised the move as a strong patriotic statement. “That’s real leadership—proudly standing up for our country and our flag. President Trump always puts America first,” one user wrote. Another echoed the sentiment, commenting, “And… Trump is personally paying for them.”

While critics have questioned the priorities behind the initiative, Trump’s supporters view it as a reaffirmation of American values and pride. As construction plans move forward, the twin flagpoles are expected to become a striking visual symbol of Trump’s second tenure at the White House.
