Trump’s Weight Loss Sparks Buzz as White House Reveals the Truth

President Donald Trump has recently raised eyebrows after shedding a noticeable amount of weight, sparking widespread speculation about whether he may have turned to weight-loss medications like Ozempic. According to OK! Magazine, Trump has lost around 20 pounds since his last recorded physical during his first term in 2020, when he weighed 244 pounds. His current weight now stands at 224 pounds.

While Trump’s physician, Dr. Sean Barbabella, attributed the weight loss to an “active lifestyle” and “frequent victories in golf events,” some medical experts are skeptical that such a transformation could be achieved without pharmaceutical help.

Obesity medicine specialist Dr. Lisa Oldson told the publication, “Most people don’t lose weight that fast without meds.” She acknowledged that it was speculative but questioned whether diet and exercise alone could explain such a significant drop.

“When we look at people losing 30 pounds, 40 pounds, 50 pounds, 80 pounds, 100 pounds, that’s much more often due to the newer meds, the GLP agonists,” she said, referring to drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy. Past reports have claimed Trump’s weight may have peaked at 254 pounds, making the recent shift even more dramatic.

Still, not all experts are convinced the former president used medication. Alabama-based dietitian Dr. Carolyn Williams argued that the use of weight-loss drugs typically causes side effects. “Using weight-loss drugs usually makes you feel bad,” she said. “And the president has seemed to be happy and healthy in public.”

The White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, directly addressed the rumors, stating that no weight-loss drugs were involved in Trump’s transformation. “As the results of his recently conducted physical concluded, President Trump is indeed in peak physical and mental condition as a result of his strenuous schedule working 20 hours per day, his exercise on the golf course, and his diet courtesy of the exceptional White House chefs,” she said.

She went on to praise Trump’s vitality, adding, “The president is in a physical condition that most men his age could only dream about.” Trump himself discussed his weight loss during a January 2024 interview with Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade, saying, “I’ve been so busy I haven’t been able to eat very much. I’m not able to sit down and eat like you — you can sit down and eat. Me, it’s a little bit tougher.”

Dr. Williams responded to that comment with caution, warning that this kind of weight loss might not be sustainable. “Skipping meals due to scheduling and/or stress isn’t a long-term solution,” she said. “If this is the case, he’s likely lacking some key nutrients—ones like fiber, potassium, calcium, and vitamin D—in his diet unless he’s focusing on nutrient-dense foods when he does find time for a meal.”
