A Georgia family is reeling from back-to-back tragedies after a 48-year-old mother died just 11 days following the suspicious death of her 20-year-old son. Tasha Lawson passed away on April 13, with relatives saying she succumbed to grief after her son, Tee’Andrick Lawson, was found dead in her Glennville home on April 2.
The small town, located about 60 miles west of Savannah, has been shaken by the dual losses, with family members insisting Tee’Andrick was the victim of a hate crime and that his mother died of a “broken heart.”

“Their bond was deep and unbreakable — best friends who did everything together,” a GoFundMe page for the family reads. “The pain of losing her son was too much for her heart to bear, and just days later, she passed away from sheer heartbreak.”
The fundraiser, organized by Lawson’s daughter Terreona Harrison, describes the devastation left behind for her four surviving children. Cousin DeAsia Mackey drew parallels to another family tragedy, writing on Facebook: “Crazy thing is… Nov 2009, we lost our great-grandmother after losing our grandmother… same way, heartbreak. It’s real.”
While the Ware County Coroner ruled Lawson’s death as natural causes, her family remains focused on seeking justice for Tee’Andrick. Relatives claim he was murdered by two intruders who broke into the home while Lawson was away, according to WTOC.Â

“The only thing I need help with is making sure my nephew’s killer experiences the same pain my nephew and sister felt,” Lawson’s sister Stephanie Green posted on Facebook. “Until justice is served ain’t nobody talking bout NATHIN!!!!!”

Terreona Harrison expressed her anguish over witnessing her mother’s suffering in her final days: “[Y]’ all wouldn’t understand the pain of losing a child… I was by my ma’s side… you motherf—ers will never understand the pain of watching a parent go through pain and stress wondering what happened to their child.”
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Hazlehurst Police Department are still probing Tee’Andrick’s death, with few details released publicly. As the family mourns, they continue pushing for answers—and accountability—in what they believe was a targeted attack. “This double loss has left their family shattered,” the GoFundMe states, as the community rallies around them in their search for closure.
